HISTORY
This was developed by
Stacey Waithe, Attorney at Law after she observed that a lot of women and men
were hurt due to the breakdown in the relations between their significant
other, relative or sibling and in some cases their children or due to the sudden
death or murder of a loved one,. This breakdown stemmed from many factors such
as substance abuse, growing up in broken homes, low self-esteem, lack of
Spiritual guidance, all forms of abuse and the list goes on and on.
After being admitted to
the Bar in 2008 and having been exposed to a lot of family matters in the Courts
of Trinidad and Tobago and recently being involved in the Drug Treatment Courts
of Trinidad and Vancouva, Canada, Stacey Waithe realised that there is little
and no structure in place to cater to these needs. There is nothing in place to
address the needs of both men and women holistically. Nothing in place to house
both men and women when they would like to escape from unpleasant environments which contributed to
their “issue”, nothing in place to train and develop their skills whilst being
away from hostile environments. Not one individual place to address all their “issues”
so when they return to society they are fully equipped physically, emotionally
and Spiritually to face the world and its challenges and not return to their
former lives that was filled with painful memories.
Stacey Waithe herself
has been the victim of the murder of a loved one in 2001 and the manner whereby
it was dealt with by the Constabulary was not pleasant so she understands the
hurt that a lot of people go through on a daily basis. Luckily for Stacey there
was family support and spiritual support to succour her on the road to recovery
and most importantly her relationship with Jesus Christ has assisted her
tremendously to overcome this hurt, forgive and move on and embrace the future.
It is therefore with
this in mind, that this was created…
VISION
To be a safe nirvana to
the hurting people in society.
MISSION
To provide world class services
to the hurting people in society, to equip them and to thrust them into society
as a whole individual, lacking nothing emotionally, physically, financially,
sexually and most importantly Spiritually.
It's good that we have someone who knows all too well the challenges serving the people. Stacey is someone who is qualified to help people with the struggles that they face. Someone with a vision and a mission.
ReplyDeleteThank you Keeon, really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteDealing with human hurt and pain is itself a taboo area, so that this conversation sheds a beam of light, in an area where it is greatly needed. In a world where selfishness in its many camouflages obtains, there is little that attention paid to human challenges, hurt and pain. “Get over it!” is all that is said, there is no dedicated effort to serve people, much less follow up.
ReplyDeleteIt’s welcomed to see an appreciation that the male gender too suffers pain and hurt.
Good work!
Thank you Ancil...
ReplyDeleteThis issue is not only a matter to be addressed with courts and legal intervention (not discrediting it altogether however), but one which requires a holistic approach that involves research on its diverse social and psychological issues. Then can the root cause of this behaviour can be ascertained. I believe a multi-faceted approach that deals specifically with prevention rather than cure should be embarked upon. Prevent it, instead of curing, curbing or dealing with it.
ReplyDeleteStacy, you have a tall order before you (in relation to your vision and mission). But with God, nothing is impossible. So go brave and go strong. May you provide an excellent service to the nation.
